Entertaining Toronto Theatre Goers
Handling Specialty doesn’t just specialize in custom stage lifts and rotators. This time, they answered the call to customize a dock lift for a popular theatre in downtown Toronto.
The job included an existing pit design, which Handling engineers and designers were asked to accommodate. The team realized the benefits of a tilting dock lift driven by two electric jack lifts situated below the dock inside the pit.
The design also enables the lift to unload from virtually any trailer height as two top-mounted jack lifts drive the dock upwards. Safety touch tape switches adorn the sides to avoid pinch points, while limit switches also give the equipment added safety precautions.
The lift can be activated by an HMI control panel mounted to the dock wall or remotely with a handheld, wireless pendant. Rated to hold up to 9200 lbs, the tilting dock lift can accommodate a forklift and its load.
Now, sets and equipment are easily unloaded from trailers directly to the stage with Handling Specialty’s specific application solution for this entertainment client.
